Then I saw the colorful toothpicks in the kitchen and remembered something I saw on Samsstuff recently. Fun and colorful and complete with clear tape over both sides to keep them safe when we are watering, they are just want we needed. I still need to make a few more but think I'm off to a good start. I'm happy with how they turned out and now I just hope something will grow...

Thank you for the link! Tape is a good idea, I'm wondering if there's some sort of coating you could get, like at Home Depot or Lowes. I'll have to check into it!
I'm not sure what I'll plant this year, I never get much yield from the vegetables that I plant :( I know I want a lavender hedge, though.
Those are adorable!! I am going to find a nice big container and plant some lettuce and herbs. Nothing too difficult to cultivate, as I do not have a green thumb at all, but I can't wait to be able to pick my own salad!

Let's see... I am growing lavender, mint, jalapenos, basil (enough to feel an army), tomatoes and sage. I might try sweet potatoes this year as we have the most perfect spot for them!

These little labels are really cute. I'm going to a plant so next weekend to pick out new Spring veggies for my garden, and I might have to make a little something like this myself. ;)

Love the signs, they look a little retro to me! I spray my painted wood signs with acrylic every year. Marine spar varnish would work, tho its spendy and a bit yellowish. I am so ready to start planting but it snowed this week. Sunshine coming soon, I hope!

That's a great idea...and a pretty one! We planted a big garden last year and had trouble with thing being eaten all the time. :( This year we have a few thing with flowers mixed in. It's beautiful!

Great idea! I need to make some signs for my pots. I don't have a green thumb, but am trying to grow some basil, cilantro, and chives this year. Baby steps. :)

Found you through Somewhat Simple link-up. Thanks for the great idea! I actually ran out of the tabs I use for labeling my plants & ended up using some of my daughter's plastic spoons & a sharpie - but yours are so cute! I love them.
We are growing 6 different varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, peppers, lettuce, broccoli, carrots, basil, oregano, cilantro, mint, lemongrass, thyme, zucchini, yellow squash ... I better get cracking on my sign making!! :)

Great idea! I've made similar signs to cuten up buffets at parties but never thought to make them for plants. I've "laminated" with packing tape before but never put two and two together. Thanks for the tip!
Well, I can't kill the rosemary. The strawberries survived the winter, but who knows if they'll bear fruit. I want some basil and some tomatoes, though I am usually not too good at this. if I just get enough to get us by w/o buying basil or tomatoes for the summer, I'll be happyhappyhappy.
Suffice it to say I WILL NOT be planting Collard Greens (thank you for your comment BTW!) Most of my herbs survived the winter, so I just have to replant basil, parsley and cilantro...lettuce and pea are already in; adding tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers and beans. Love these tags...might just be our next rainy day project!

I love this entry! The signs are adorable. :) So far I have avacado, orange, lemon, lime, tomato and peppers that I'm trying to grow from seed. I also purchased a small strawberry plant from this great organic nursery right by my house. Just found your blog - good stuff!
